Mat.No. 1.1193/DIN CF45/AISI 1045
Designation by Standards
Mat. No. | DIN | EN | AISI |
1.1193 | CF45 | - | 1045 |
Chemical Composition (in weight %)
C | Si | Mn | Cr | Mo | Ni | V | W | Others |
0.46 | 0.25 | 0.65 | - | - | - | - | - | - |
Description
CF45 is a medium carbon steel is used when greater strength and hardness is desired than in the 'as rolled' condition. Extreme size accuracy, straightness and concentricity combine to minimize wear in high speed applications. Turned, ground and polished.
Applications
Used in gears, shafts, axles, bolts, studs, and machine parts.
Physical properties (average values) at ambient temperature
Modulus of elasticity [103 x N/mm2]: 210 Density [g/cm3]: 7.85
Soft Annealing
Heat to 650-700oC, cool slowly. This will produce a maximum Brinell hardness of 207.
Normalizing
Temperature: 840-870oC.
Stress Relieving
Stress relieving to remove machining stresses should be carried out by heating to 120-200oC, holding for one hour at heat, followed by air cooling. This operation is performed to reduce distortion during heat treatment.
Hardening
Harden from a temperature of 820-850oC followed by oil or water quenching. Hardness after quenching is 55-61 HRC.
Tempering
Tempering temperature: 550-660oC.
Forging
Hot forming temperature: 1100-850oC.
